Feeds approximately 2 to 3 adults or a family of 2 adults and 2 young children! It consists of seasonal, freshly harvested vegetables, including familiar as well as more unusual varieties. As 2 adults who cook 5-7 nights of the week ourselves plus making other light meals during the week, we find the mix and volume of 'what's in the box' highly practical, even if we also add some other items regularly from our farmers' market colleagues or elsewhere to supplement what we do not grow.
Contains 11-14 items on average (sometimes more but averages 11-12!), depending on the season and availability but always an average of the weekly price and often way more $$ value. Average value per week = $50.00
SINGLES, people who eat out regularly OR those on a tight budget might like to purchase a Standard Share with a friend or neighbour and ALTERNATE WEEKS picking up the produce?
Feeds approximately 3-4 adult-sized eaters and up to 2 small children or 2-3 adult vegetarians.
This Share is meant for a family or medium-sized household. We do not recommend splitting it between a group of individuals, UNLESS you eat together - just not practical to divie up. If this Share is too much we recommend the Standard Share.
Contains 11-15 items (av. 13-14, including larger volumes of staples), depending on the season and availability but always an average of the weekly price and often way more $$ value. Average value per week = $80.00
This Share is generally meant for a family or medium-sized household. Though, people who eat out regularly OR those on a tight budget might like to purchase a feed-A-Family Share with a friend(s) or neighbour and ALTERNATE WEEKS picking up the produce?
Community Supported Agriculture (aka CSA), is simply a farm share program between a local farm and the community of CSA members (eaters and cooks!) who receive the food the farm produces. Angelica Organic Farm CSA, is a traditional, single-farm CSA, in which members purchase a share of the annual growing season's harvest in advance, around mid-late November and in return receive a weekly supply of our fresh, premium quality, organically grown (AO organic certification #10966) seasonal vegetable harvest, from late January in summer (approx) through autumn to winter in mid August. CSA2019 runs for 30 weeks, with produce supply starting on Friday 25 January and concluding on 16 August 2019.
BUT, a CSA membership is NOT merely a subscription to ‘local farm products’… i.e., CSA is NOT just another form of “retail farming”. Rather, it is a form of local community solidarity, that can transform relationships and build a resilient good food system and community and much more. A CSA is NOT a regular 'pick and choose' or 'order whatever, whenever' at 'bargain basement price (or truck loads of ‘cheap’ food)' style weekly vegetable delivery box scheme. That kind of produce "box scheme" is not what a true CSA model is all about. There are significant differences between joining a local CSA and purchasing from a 'Whole Foods', greengrocer, veg box order and delivery service (retail or farm-based) or even a Farmers' Market. Joining a CSA requires a shift from going out and buying whatever you choose (whether in season or not!) from a greengrocer or market each week.
Each week, we provide a mouth watering and practical selection of fresh picked veggies. We try to include some sort of root vegetable, potatoes, a fresh herb, greens &/or lettuce/salad mix, some sort of allium (garlic, leeks, onions), and anything else that might be in season at the time.
PLEASE NOTE: We do NOT comprise OR price share sizes by the kilo volume of produce in the 'box' each week. Your weekly VALUE is arrived at according to practical usage and a good volume of excellent quality food for the subscription paid. If you are after masses of 'cheap food' CSA is NOT for you. You will receive extra when we have surplus only. CSA is about FAIR FOOD, reflecting true production value, including that everyone wins, eater and farmers alike - Thank you for your respect, support and appreciation.
It is very important to us, Angelica Organic Farm, that you make a confident decision and feel good about your purchase of a share in our farm's produce. You should feel great knowing where your food comes from and that OUR CSA works for YOUR lifestyle, genuine dietary limitations and personal ethos.
We only want your membership if it is good for you!
